Healthy churches serve God together.

Jesus said that He came not to be served but to be a servant. Healthy Christians develop this servant’s heart and live out their faith in service to God and others. In fact, we serve God when we serve others. As an authentic Christian community we take seriously the needs of others, both in our church and outside of it. We seek to bear one another’s burdens by putting other’s needs above our own.

Each member of our congregation is either serving, being equipped to serve, or is moving into some ministry of serving. In fact, serving is what it means to be a member of our church - you are a member of a body. Just like a body has many different parts, each of which has a distinct role, so too the church. Each member of the church is thought of as an individual member of the body, fulfilling a particularly ministry. That ministry is our service.

As an example of service to our community, a group of our teenagers recently handed out simple light bulbs to homeowners around our facility. This was not a marketing scheme or ploy to get people to our church, it was authentic service; after all, everyone needs a light bulb. By serving those around us, we want them to know that if they ever have a need or spiritual longing, they can find help and hope in the Gospel that is lived out in our authentic Christian community.
